Cowabunga.... here we go!!

Here we go!!! I am so excited, mostly for this blog, and oh yea, for my surgery too! I’m brand new to blogging, but I do consider myself pretty technology savvy, that’s why I can’t believe how hard it is to figure this blog out. I can’t figure out how to center my logo (up top) for example, and I did my ‘weight ticker’ but when I tried to copy the URL, it kept saying “illegal code” or something like that. Argh! IF ANYONE CAN HELP WITH ANY OF THIS, SHOOT ME A COMMENT J
So about me; let’s see… my name is Brooke, I’m 26 and live in San Diego with my husband and my toddler boy, I’m 237 pounds which is the heaviest I’ve ever been (except when I was pregnant 2 years ago I reached 245).  Read my “About Me” section for more info.
My reason for doing this blog is because I’ve been reading all of yours and just L-O-V-E them!! I find them very informative and helpful. BUT, I was having a hard time relating to a lot of them for various reasons, so then I decided to start one and maybe some other people that have more in common with me will sign on and start a blog… you will learn more about me as I post!
Surgery Talk: Like, I’m sure most of you, I’ve tried everything… all the diet pills, personal trainers, Weight Watchers, Atkins Diet, South Beach Diet, cleanses, no carbs, the “moon diet” (don’t even ask!), and even lipo!! So, since my biggest problem is portion control, I think the band is a perfect match for me. I love to work out, and I don’t crave any sort of food neither do I snack throughout the day, but I just eat too much when I do eat! Here in Southern California the 1-800-GET-THIN ads are everywhere, so I called, went in for a seminar and now I am set for my surgery January 2012 (exact day TBA). My insurance requires 3 months from the date of seminar, and 2 sleep studies (one done this week already), 3 meetings with a nutritionist, one endoscopy (next week) and a couple of basic doc visits. It’s actually all pretty easy and everything (all pre & post-op appts, and surgery) is covered by my insurance! All I have to pay is the deductible of $1,000!! I couldn’t believe this, last year when I needed chest x-rays they were going to charge me $500, so just a thou for surgery and all that goes with it… heck ya!
So here we go….  I promise to keep my blog interesting and exciting with new stories, and not have all posts be as long as this one… jeeez!
Peace and surf to all…
